吉田蔵沢は松山生まれの画家。晩年は竹を画材としたことから、竹の蔵沢としてよく知られている。明月は圓光寺の7代目住職であり、彼の書は伊予松山藩の宝と呼ばれた。蔵沢も明月も名筆として知られており、子規庵に作品がある。子規は虚子の結婚記念の贈り物として、明月の書を送ったとされている。

Zotaku (Zotaku Yoshida) was an artist born in Matsuyama. In his later year, his subject matter for the paintings was bamboo. So he was well known as “Bamboo Zotaku”. Meigetsu was the seventh chief priest of this place Enkoji Temple and his calligraphy had been called as the treasrure of Iyo-Matsuyama Domain. Both Zotaku and Meigetsu were master penmen and their calligraphy are displayed in Shikian. It is said that Shiki presented a Meigetsu’s calligraphy to Kyoshi for his wedding gift.
