明治28年3月15日に、子規は3年ぶりに父の墓参りに法龍寺を訪ねた。彼の目前には、寺の境内を鉄道が横切り、墓は荒れ放題となっており、思わず涙が流れそうになったという。

Shiki Masaoka visited this place Horyuji Temple (Shiki’s father’s cemetery) on 15th March, 1895 for first time in three years. Just before his eyes, railway was running across the grounds of the temple and rough graves were around there. His heart almost burst with grief.
